OPEN M Free Clinic is a medical office that serves as the primary care home to a large number of Summit County uninsured residents. Patients of the clinic receive basic medical and dental care. In addition, many specialists volunteer at the clinic allowing patients to have specialized medical and ancillary care in one place. Our patients also receivemedication free of charge at the full-service pharmacy at OPEN M. Since our clinic is run strictly by volunteers we are unable to offer "walk-in" appointments. Interested individuals must call the clinic first to verify eligibility and then are placed on a waiting list.

The children's clinics provide immunizations which are added to a state-wide database called Impact SIIS, this database can track immunization data across the state. This is beneficial due to the fact the, once the shot record goes home with the family, it is sometimes lost or damaged. Consequently, when the child appears later at a health department, physician' s office or clinic, there is no real way of verifying which shots have already been administered. These records can now be accessed simply by logging onto the Ohio Department of Health's vaccine registry.

Since this is a sliding fee scale clinic, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Open M Free Clinic Akron Oh website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2023

Persons In Family HouseholdPoverty Guideline Salary per year
1$14,580
2$19,720
3$24,860
4$30,000
5$35,140
6$40,280
7$45,420
8$50,560

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free services from some clinics, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
