We were formally organized in 1988 and we are recognized by the IRS as a tax-deductible non-profit organization.The guiding principal of RTF it to provide help to those wanting to help themselves. When we build medical clinic facilities deep in jungle villages of Honduras it is the local community members that do the physical construction. When we put water wells and pumps in villages and cities that have NO source of clean water it is local families that do the labor.RTF is assisting victims of the Asian Tsunami with the delivery of relief supplies and we have completed construction of two medical clinics and two playgrounds in Sri Lanka.RTF operates nine learning centers for women (literacy) in AfghanistanRTF periodically takes teams of volunteers from all walks of life into remote areas to lend assistance to those in need, be it from natural or man-made disasters. Often our missions are into areas that have never had outside visitors. Volunteer help is needed, and help is needed in sending volunteers. (One does not need to be a surgeon to hand out worm pills to kids with bloated bellies or does one need to be a dental tech to hold a little girls hand (and head) while our dentist extracts an aching tooth.)Working with our project Partner, World Emergency Relief, we send ocean freight containers around the world to hurting bodies and hearts. RTF does the due-diligence work of assessing the needs in a given area and insuring that the donated cargo is distributed in a cost effective manner to those to whom it is intended. Over the past year we have facilitated the delivery of over $32 million in new goods donated by manufacturers.
