The Anderson Free Clinic has provided high quality, free medical services to the community since 1984. It was established by a group of Anderson physicians, nurses, and community volunteers who were interested in providing a source of health care to those in their community who could not afford it and were not eligible for other programs.

The Free Clinic provides services such as primary care, specialty referrals, and some limited dentistry. The clinic has an on-site pharmacy as well which provides prescription drugs to patients.

The Free Clinic is not a government agency; it is a private, non-profit organization, which is funded through grants and donations primarily from members of the Anderson community.

The Clinic has a small paid staff but is mainly supported by volunteers. Doctors, dentists, and other medical professionals donate time and expertise.

    Mission Statement

To serve the health needs of the underserved citizens of Anderson County through community engagement and partnerships with those who care.

Since this is a sliding fee scale clinic, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Anderson Free Clinic website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care.

    Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2023

Persons In Family HouseholdPoverty Guideline Salary per year
    1$14,580
    2$19,720
    3$24,860
    4$30,000
    5$35,140
    6$40,280
    7$45,420
    8$50,560

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free services from some clinics, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

This is the most hateful group of inhumane, evil hearted people on the planet! Do not waste your time, because these people like to punch down to make themselves feel bigger! Today, one of their staff members told me to sell my wheelchair if I needed medical care, because she (a non-medical volunteer) believes I do not need it. I am a lifelong neuropathic pain patient! Just ego-driven hypocrites!

    Yes. It is professionally run

Admin on Oct 9, 2015

I have been to this clinic.I needed medical care. This clinic was completely free. The staff was friendly. I waited less than 1 hour I'm disabled and during the time when i was waiting on my Disability to be approved I had no doctor to go to, nor could I afford one. The Free Clinic treated me with Respect and made sure I had ALL of MY MEDICATIONS, and I take a lot of them. I did on the other hand have to pay a small fee for my medications, but that was ok because I was getting the HELP that I needed that i couldn't afford to pay for anywhere else. They ARE ANGEL'S and I have the UTMOST RESPECT for each and everyone of the doctor's, nurse's and volunteer's.... I don't know where people like US would be without THEM, because MEDICAID won't approve us unless we're ACTUALLY living on the STREET'S and getting food stamps! GOD forbid us to be living with a sibling and they are the only one working, because DSS thinks that the SIBLING can , or is SUPPOSE to PAY for your MEDICAL CARE or all of your FOOD!! I'm sorry that I got off the SUBJECT.... I just want to say that the FREE CLINIC IS A WONDERFUL CLINIC.
