I telephoned Mission Medical Clinic for a referral to another doctor or similar health care provider, now that law has changed to exclude people unless they are not eligible for Medicaid, and a volunteer told me to send an email to the executive director. A few days later I called the same volunteer to say that I did not receive an answer. The volunteer informed me that the executive director was \\\"very busy\\\". I then asked if there was some other way to get a referral, and the volunteer told me to send my letter by standard U.S. mail addressed to the director. I mailed a type-written letter to her a day or two later, but it has been 5 days and I still have not received an answer. I have a sense that my request is being evaded, and this may be a common occurrence among medical administrators, doctors, and other medical supervisors and \\\"gatekeepers\\\" when non-standard and potentially critical questions of health grind through the political criteria for medical aid.
