Clara's House is a safety net primary health care clinic run by nurse practitioners in collaboration with an MD medical director. We have many volunteers who provide compassionate health services to the voiceless and vulnerable among us. At a glance, we:

Provide primary health care at no charge to our patients in the regional area of Sacramento, California USA
Provide basic lab tests for patients at no charge
Have an all unpaid volunteer staff
Accept patients only by referral from partner agencies (no walk-ins)
Are funded solely by tax deductible donations and grants
Are a nondenominational nonprofit 501c3 organization

New Patients

Please arrive 30 minutes early if you are a new patient and this is your first appointment. If you are not able to keep your appointment, phone us as soon as possible to cancel. Please bring the following to your appointment:

All of your medication bottles
Medical records
Immunization records
If medical records are unavailable, please bring the names, phone numbers, and addresses of former medical providers.
 
Returning Patients
If you are not able to keep your appointment, phone us as soon as possible to cancel. Please bring the following to your appointment:

Glucometer if diabetic
Peak flow meter if you use one


Directions
Coming from the West on interstate I-80:

1) Take the N Street exit
2) Continue on to 30th Street
3) Turn left K Street
4) Come to 2715 K Street, Ste D

 
Coming from the East on interstate I-80:

1) Take the J Street exit
2) Continue on to 29th Street
3) Turn right on K Street
4) Come to 2715 K Street, Ste D

 
By bus: The number 30 stops near the clinic on J Street.
 
Parking
Parking on K Street and 28th streets: there are parking meters with a maximum of 2 hours parking. On 27th Street, parking is free with a maximum of 2 hours. Pay parking lots which charge $6.00 for a day are on 28th and J Street and behind Blimpies on 28th and K Streets. The City of Sacramento issues parking tickets frequently! Minimum cost of a parking ticket is $52.00.

In order to get reduced or free services from some clinics, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income.When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

COVID-19 Information for Patients

Contact your healthcare provider by phone before coming to a clinic or hospital if you meet the following criteria:
  • Symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, fatigue, headache
  • Symptoms such as muscle or body aches, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose.
  • Contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19 within 14 days of onset of systems

Mild Covid Symptoms

  • Low-grade fever (approx 100 degrees Fahrenheit for adults)
  • Nasal congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Mild, dry cough
  • Mild body aches

Moderate Covid Symptoms

  • Fever above 100.4 F
  • Persistent cough
  • Temporary shortness of breath when you exert yourself
  • Exhaustion, need to stay in bed

Severe Covid Symptoms

  • Constant trouble breathing
  • Persistent chest pain or pressure
  • Confusion
  • Trouble staying awake
  • Blue lips or face
