This organization is the nation's leading non-profit substance abuse service organization, providing treatment for more than 5,000 adults and adolescents. It is the development of modern drug abuse treatment, and was among the first to adopt self-help methods that make the individual the focus of treatment and address the underlying causes of drug abuse. They have treated more than 75,000 people since its creation in 1967. As well, they have also conducted much of the research documenting the effectiveness of drug-free therapy and has trained clinicians responsible for drug treatment and intervention programs across the country. They also runs an accredited alternative day school for drug troubled teens and provides after-school and in-school intervention programs for adolescents and their families.
