Battle Creek, MI and the surrounding area have always loved baseball. As the birthplace of Stan Musial baseball the area has supported baseball. (American Amateur Baseball Congress, Founded in 1935, it is now composed of seven (7) different age divisions in the states, Puerto Rico and Canada.) Due to the lack of Adults willing to share baseball and life skills, individuals participating in the AABC have been falling to a low of only 4 teams in the U10 division in 2002. The root problem appeared to be adults not knowing how to share baseball skills with youth. Skills and Drills, INC. was formed in 2003 to get more adults involved so more youth could participate. First we convinced adults of the need. Second we taught them how to run effective practices and run a team including all the incumbent intricacies. Lastly we hit the street to encourage children to participate. We had 95 children involved in 2003 on 8 teams. Enrollment in the U10 division was up to 9 teams in 2003, and we are just starting! We are teaching youth skills through drills to have fun in competitive games recognizing that good sportsmanship and teamwork are essential in character development also.
Since this is a sliding fee scale clinic, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Skills And Drills Inc website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care.

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free services from some clinics, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income.
When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
